THE POSITION

Are you enthusiastic about ensuring a safe work environment? The Chief Executive Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking two interns to assist in the implementation of a fresh Safety Culture for the Department. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The selected interns will be responsible for helping to create job safety analyses (JSA) for specific operational tasks, updating safety databases, and participating in the production of safety videos for trainings, JSA, and safety talk videos. 

Work Schedule and Additional Information: 

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:
  • Must be a high school graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll) on a full-time or part-time basis in a 2- or 4- year post-secondary education program for the fall semester.
  • You must be in good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher).
  • You must be at least 18 years of age.

Special Requirement:  
  • This position requires a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications (not required):
Students in one the following majors:
  • Health and Safety
  • Industrial Hygiene
  • Information Technology


Additional Requirements: 

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
