Yamhill County has one regular full-time position for a Preparedness Coordinator. In this position you will be responsible for coordination, oversight, and documentation of Yamhill County Public Health’s preparedness plans, emergency response plans, training, exercises, and drills. You will work in close collaboration and coordination with health services administration and management, Yamhill County Emergency Management, and state, county, municipal, school, universities, community colleges, business, and other emergency planners. Provides coordination of Medical Reserve Corps Unit. The position requires high standards of confidentiality and appropriate information management.

This position is eligible for remote/hybrid work with some on-site requirements.

The Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in Public Health, Emergency Operations, Fire Science, Biology, Life Sciences, Health, or related field is required. 
    • A master’s degree in Public Health or related field is preferred. 
    • One year of experience working with a community services organization is also preferred. 
  • Any satisfactory combination of education and experience may substitute for the above. 
  • Position requires the ability to perform work using initiative and independent judgment and use resourcefulness and tact with both internal and external clients. 
  • Bi-lingual and bi-cultural proficiency in interpreting and translating in Spanish language is preferred. 
  • Will be required to complete ICS level 300 and 400 training within 6 months of hire and complete PHAB training within one year of hire. 
  • A license to drive in the state of Oregon is required in addition to an acceptable driving record. May be subject to successful completion of a background check.

Health Coverage - Group medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage is available for the entire family. For the 2022-2023 plan year, the County will pay 97% of the monthly premium and employees will pay 3% ($58.53 per month) for the Base Plan. With this plan, employees are eligible for a $125 a month contribution into an HRA VEBA account. Buy-up plans are also available.

Retirement - PERS (Public Employee Retirement System) contribution is 100% employer funded, which includes both contribution to PERS pension and IAP accounts (IAP contribution is 6% of salary).

Short-Term Disability – 100% County paid.

Life insurance - $10,000 for employee/$2,000 for spouse and children – 100% County Paid.

Vacation/Sick Leave - Flexible Earned Time (FET) is a combination of vacation and sick leave. To start, employees earn 13 hours per month and future accruals increase based on years of service. After a year of service and depending on FET balance, employees may sell-back up to 40 hours of FET per year.
