ATI is hiring a Production Supervisor Trainee at our manufacturing plant in Millersburg, Oregon. You will support a 24/7 operation and may have some off-shift responsibilities, up to and including, working swing, graveyard, rotation, and/or weekend shifts with little notice.

The role of a Production Supervisor Trainee offers a unique opportunity to hone your leadership skills while learning about our business and leading a team of 5-7 direct reports with diverse personalities. You will be responsible for their health and safety and for training, mentoring, and leading them.

As a Trainee you will learn the scope of ATI processes and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, which include a represented workforce, safety, engineering, quality, environmental, continuous improvement, and maintenance. You will assist the Maintenance Department for planned and unplanned maintenance activities. You will issue hot work and line break permits, safely execute lock out try out (LOTO) procedures, oversee the environmental pollution control systems, and ensure our scrubbers and processes are running smoothly. You will also work with the Continuous Improvement and Operational Training teams to improve our work processes and procedures. By learning these procedures and strategies, you will help us produce quality products that meet ATI's goals and objectives.

Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, a continuous improvement mindset, the ability to act quickly and make impactful decisions, and exceptional interpersonal skills are included in the skillset of a successful Production Supervisor Trainee.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Participate in all aspects of Production Supervisor Trainee training activities and curriculum.
  • Monitor processes and tasks to identify problems and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement improvements to work processes and procedures.
  • Deploy as a rover to support supervisory absences.
  • Apply leadership skills to lead, motivate, and train personnel.
  • Monitor and coordinate training activities to ensure training tasks are completed.
  • Plan and direct department activities to obtain safe and efficient operations.
  • Interpret and enforce policies while maintaining the provisions of the labor agreement.
  • Drive "right first time" initiatives.
  • Ensure strict adherence to both internal and external customer requirements and production schedules.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of formal or informal leadership experience.

Requirements

  • The ability to wear a half and full-face mask respirator.

Preferred

  • Supervisory experience or work experience in a manufacturing or in a heavy industrial environment is highly preferred.
  • An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Career Technical Education, Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience in a union environment is highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office Software Suite, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing, continuous improvement, PSM systems, and change management concepts.
