Quality Inspector

Shields Manufacturing is looking for a Quality Inspector to assist the Lead Inspector and Quality Manager in the execution of the Quality Management System. Duties will include processing; first article submissions, corrective and preventive actions, internal audits as well as customer and supplier communication and data submittals. Additionally, the inspector will provide inputs and coaching to continually improve the understanding and adherence to quality assurance disciplines across the company.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

• Perform, document and communicate results of product inspections, to include dimensional, visual and functional inspections of raw materials, detail parts, components and sub-assemblies, by utilizing:
  • Precision hand-held measurement equipment
  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM / Zeiss / Calypso)
  • Functional Test Equipment
  • ERP / Shop Operating System
  • Profilometer for measuring surface roughness
  • Comparator / Digital vision systems
  • Safely use cranes / hoists when handling large parts

• Review acceptance criteria defined by Shields Manufacturing or by customer documents to insure appropriate inspection methods and to identify and document any drawing / specification errors.

Education/Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of experience serving as a quality assurance inspector in a production environment.
• Demonstrated skills identifying, measuring and managing product Key Characteristics.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) guidelines and practices.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office (word, excel, and outlook).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to demonstrate attention to detail in completing assignments and in communicating to internal and external representatives
