Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Optics Manufacturing Technician will focus on performing Sub-Assembly of precise optics and laser modules with high quality, proficiency, and reproducibility according to standard operating methods.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts sub-assembly bench tests to confirm module quality and performance
  • Responsible for peer review the assembly work of others and repair any minor defects in assembly workmanship
  • Confirm correct materials and appropriate quantities are used and report any discrepancies
  • Maintain Production records in the manufacturing facility environment
  • Follow guidelines, blueprints, and/or diagrams of the products being manufactured
  • Identify process improvements to help reduce cost and improve the quality of manufactured products
  • Assess Bills of Materials for accuracy and completeness
  • Maintains a clean/safe work area and reports any safety hazards to supervision
  • Knows and observes all quality and GMP standards at each operation within the assigned department
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Field Preferred, but not Required. High School Diploma or GED accepted if meeting experience qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience in a Manufacturing Technician or comparable Technical role preferably with precise optical mechanical devices
  • Ability to competently use hand tools with mechanical devices
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English
  • Experience using the Windows OS, MSOffice Applications, Engineering Change Order Systems, Device History Records, and creation of Assembly Procedures, Reports, and Bills of Materials
  • Ability to follow written directions and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate in English and Mandarin desired
  • Familiar with product development cycle from concept design to production

  • Light to Medium Heavy Work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Comfortably work while standing for long periods of time
  • Able to position their body without additional support to obtain access to internal components of the system


ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrated precise mechanical skills with assembly of small tight tolerance micro-optical and mechanical components to meet required output performance
  • Familiar with optical gluing techniques
  • Demonstrated complex Optical alignment experience
