Your Role With Us:

Salem Health is looking for an experienced Obstetrician to join our established hospital-based OB Hospitalist team.

The OB Hospitalist team works both 12 and 24 hour shifts to provide continuous coverage and is a critical part of our unit culture overseeing perinatal safety with 3400 births per year at Salem Health. Responsibilities include attending deliveries, OB triage for unassigned patients, supporting established practices with care of their inpatients and surgical assists as needed, providing back up to certified nurse midwives and family medicine providers, assuming responsibility for unassigned patients, and managing hospital transfers.

Salem Hospital has 24 hr in-house anesthesia coverage, consultative maternal fetal medicine services, a high risk antepartum unit and a Level III NICU.

Background/Expertise:

  • Degree of doctor of medicine
  • 5 years of experience as a board certified/board eligible OBGYN Physician OR participation in/completion of a Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship program.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Oregon
  • Board Certification in Obstetrics by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology or the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
  • Applicants who are not Board Certified must obtain board certification within five years from completion of the applicable Residency and/or Fellowship program for the privileges being requested at Salem Hospital.1 Ongoing maintenance of board certification is required to maintain privileges.
  • Demonstrate experience and current competency, to include the performance of at least 50 deliveries in the
  • past 24 months.

*This is based on a full time position, amounts will be prorated per FTE

Salem Health Women & Children's Services Division includes:

  • 10 bed Pediatric Unit which provides inpatient and outpatient services
  • 26 bed Mother Baby Unit
  • 19 bed Labor & Delivery Unit (12 labor and 7 antepartum beds) with 2 operating rooms and 3 triage rooms
  • 27 bed level IIIA Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • 2nd highest number of deliveries in the state of Oregon
